Chapter 9 The Nevada Connection
With the help of my cousins, Ream and Lamar, we were able to uncover the Greenstone. I added it to the bracelet along with the Redstone. The Greenstone was not able to speak like the Redstone did. They could only respond to commands spoken by the bearer. They had no tracking ability like Redstone.
Ream and Lamar took us to our base deep inside the mountains near the Las Vegas desert. Once there, we would regroup and discuss what had happened and what further action to take in the recovery of Yellowstone. I was also able to explain to Stella about the attackers.
âTheyâre only scavengers, and the ship which escaped will not be back. At least not alone.â
âThis whole thing is very interesting to me, a scientist,â she said. âBut itâs all happening too fast.â
âHow did they know where to look, my King?â Asked Lamar. Quentin was a king to him. I was obvious to me now. It showed me he could be telling the truth.
âTheir instruments can pick up electric magnetic waves from the Greenstone, or anything emitting similar waves. They were only guessing.â
Ream turned to me from his instrument panel. âMy King, they are from the eighty fifth quadrant in our own galaxy from the star system we call R0722.â I had asked Ream and Lamar to speak English for Stellaâs benefit. She was alarmed enough already and being my daughter, I wanted to include her in everything I could.
âThis all brings a question to my mind,â Stella says, placing her hand on my shoulder. âSo, you are from another galaxy? Which one may I ask?â
I turned to Stella. Her eyes were expectant and I could see and sense excitement when she talked about the stars. âEarth astronomers have named it Andromeda.â
âAfter the daughter of Cassiopeia,â she responded. âIn Greek mythology.â
âItâs interesting how this world names things,â commented Lamar.
âI think itâs far better than merely slapping a number on it. So meaningless,â Stella replied. She had no idea how intelligent Lamar and Ream were.
âThe number, if you will, is not a mere number, but a term in our language that describes the characteristics and almost personality of a celestial object like planet, star or galaxy,â Lamar factually countered.
âWe can discuss the universe at a later time,â I chided. âPresently, we are still in an urgent search for the Yellowstone. Since we have Greenstone now, together with Redstone, the search will be enhanced.â
âWhat about those ruffians who attacked us?â asks Stella.
âDonât worry about them. Redstone has tracked them down. They will lead us to whoever hired them. Besides, there are two more ships like it. The three of them are headed back to the spot where we first encountered them.â
